Dear Betsy

to quote Jennifer Livingston –

You don’t know me. You are not a friend of mine. You are not a part of my family. You know nothing about me but what you see on the outside and I am much more than a number on the scale.

I will not let my self worth be defined by a bully.

A-FREAKING-MEN! I don’t get where people think they have ANY right to pass judgement on others. First and foremost, You are friggin beautiful! Seriously. Gorgeous. Inside and out. I wish everyone could meet you in person like I have. Ash! You are not ‘hefty’ AT ALL! You are strong and fit and amazing! And it shows with your Crossfit workouts. Nothing bothers me more than people getting the idea that super thin=healthy. I have plenty of friends who are teeny tiny and never exercise – they can’t run a half a mile or bench press 25 lbs…how is THAT healthy?

Any who, that video is awesome. I think everyone should see that. For the exact reason she mentions – KIDS! The other day one of my daughters friends must have mentioned the words ‘fat’ and ‘skinny’ to her because she came home and asked me what they meant. That is right. My almost 6 year old didn’t even know about those words. And you want to know why? Cause I hate them. Both. I hated when my mom told me I was ‘skinny enough to wear’ that. So if I was bigger, I couldn’t? And then how cruel she was when I gained weight. I don’t ever want my kids to think that being healthy has anything to do with their size. And that when they see me eat healthy and exercise it is to be healthy and to FEEL good.

Bleh. Sorry for the super long post. This kind of stuff gets me riled up.

You are so much better than Betsy.

I love having the post about ME! Oh, and you had to take someone else’s quote. Dang, couldn’t you come up with your own?

Um Betsy sounds like a jealous, nosey bi-otch! She’s to busy hating herself through picking on others. Pathetic.

You’re a fit, tough and beautiful chic Ash. You know it!

    Dearest Betsy…

What gives you the right? Honestly! Is your life that lame you need to stalk people from half way across the United States and talk bad about them and put them down. Is your life that lame… you have nothing better to do then sit on the computer all day? I’ll be honest, I know exactly who you are! Really? You are going to talk bad about, and put down Ashley? Take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror, and probably should look a few more times, and from ALL views…. I MEAN ALL VIEWS. Then take a deep breath. I’ll hold while you catch your breath…. ok you good? I’ll continue now… then think about what you’re doing. Then answer… What gives you the right?

Ashley is the most hardworking, dedicated, most beautiful person I know. Jealousy is a bi-otch. People just like you get mad when other have what they want. I feel bad that you are so unhappy with yourself. That your marriage and children don’t give you the love you need. I’ll pray for you… dont worry… I got your back!

Ha ha! I don’t have a clue who you are and I know you don’t have a clue who I am.
Ashley has nothing I want or need. She is a chunky, dog loving(who names their dog Olivia…), funny talking, wanna be skinny(but never will be) chick!
      I am quit happy…thank you!

I really didn’t want to write a comment because I think individuals like “Betsy” feed off of responses and get great joy when they stir up comments and hurt feelings. However, the more I thought about it, I couldn’t not respond. Ashley, I admire you, and any other individual who does what is within their means to become a better person, whether that is inside or out. I feel sad for anyone who would want to tear that down. You have worked so hard, been so dedicated, and are a strong and beautiful woman. I’m glad that you are focused, and confident and can’t wait to see you continue to soar.

Wow! I have gone back and forth on responding to this and decided that I had to. Ash is far from any of the things you have said, that’s obvious. She has been a awesome role model for my 14 year old daughter and while I hate that my daughter will read your hateful comments, I am glad that she will see the responses supporting Ash. It takes a coward to judge someone so critically from afar and from behind a computer screen. There are so many words I want to say right now, but refuse to sink to a childish level.
Ash keep doing what your doing-you’re awesome!! Thank you for being a great role model!!!

Unbelievable. I’ve been a fan of your blog for a long time now, and this is the first time I’ve commented. Don’t listen to this ‘Betsy’ character. You know how amazing you are, don’t ever let her pathetic words get you down.
