38 Weeks!

How far along? 38 Weeks! Only 2 weeks until I’m due! That’s crazy!  Baby Urie is weighing in at close to seven pounds and hitting the height charts at the 21-inch mark (or less) (according to What to Expect). He’s shedding vernix and lanugo into the amniotic fluid. His lungs are continuing to develop and he’s producing surfactant (the stuff that will prevent his lungs from sticking together when he starts to breathe.)  Feeling lots of movement still, and I can tell he’s dropped a little further (aka lots of pressure!)

Total weight gain: I hate this question.

Maternity clothes? Yup… I especially like wearing Diz’s basketball shorts and t-shirts.

Stretch marks? Oh YEAH baby! Getting more down low on my belly and holy moly they are DARK. Most of the ones higher up on my belly seem to be fading a little already.

Sleep: Sleep is… umm… not that great. Waking up more often and I am struggling to get comfortable. I’m extremely swollen and retaining a TON of fluid. My hands are pretty much constantly numb and so I wake up and my hands & forearms ACHE so bad. I’ve been taking Tylenol and it seems to help a little bit… maybe.

Best moment this week:  I’ve pretty much finished the alphabet wall. I still need to do a few finishing touches, but it’s almost done. Did a TON of prep work this weekend. Got EVERYTHING washed – all the clothes, blankets, crib sheets. Installed the car seat. Figured out how to use the car seat and messed around with the stroller. Packed the hospital bag.

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my stomach.

Movement: Oh yeah. He’s rolling around in there. I’m not feeling him up in my ribs as much, so I definitely think he’s dropped. I’ll get checked this week at the OB to see if I’m progressing… 2 weeks ago I was 50% effaced and a “fingertip” dilated (which equals ZERO). 😉

Food cravings: Milk. Blue Raspberry slurpees.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really. My sense of smell seems EXTRA strong lately. Like reminiscent of first trimester, back to my drug-dog sniffing days. Cigarette smoke is especially disgusting. YUCK.

Gender: Boy

Labor Signs: Nothing crazy. A few Braxton Hicks every now and then.

Symptoms: I no longer have ankles. I’m full on CANKLE status. So swollen. I can’t tie my shoes. And like I mentioned above… my hands are numb from the fluid in my arms. Good thing it’s temporary. And once I get the little man here… I’m sure I’ll forget all about these discomforts. 🙂

Belly Button in or out? Still in. I thought for sure it’d pop by now… but so far… still an innie.

Wedding rings on or off? Umm… yet another #wompwomp moment… my fake ring is even getting snug (and turning my damn finger green)… so no more ring for me.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy for the most part. Getting a little anxious for the little man to arrive. Like nervous/excited/scared-to-death but I just want to get him here and see what he looks like and snuggle the little guy!

Looking forward to: Diz’s Momma and Aunt are throwing me a shower this weekend (was supposed to be last weekend – but no one RSVP’d because everyone was on vacation – so we moved it) so that should be fun to see everyone. Let’s just hope I don’t go into labor before then! HA… yeah right. I have a feeling I’m going over. And really… Just excited to meet my BABY!

Your ankles are so sweet 🙂 I bet they’ll be glad to have the baby so you can be off of them for a couple of days, haha. Best of luck in your next little while before he’s here!
